Product Description
From the author of more than a dozen New York Times best sellers and his son, comes the first installment of a brand-new fantasy trilogy written just for young readers...

Barely a teen and already guarding a secret that could jeopardize his young life, Maimun is marked for death. With the help of a mysterious stranger, the boy escapes his village and flees out to sea, stowing away on the pirate hunting ship, Sea Sprite, where he comes across a most unlikely ally: the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden. With a half-demon determined to destroy him, and a crew of sailors resentful of the trouble he's caused, Maimun must find the courage to prove his worth, both to his friends and to himself.

Nearly two decades ago, R.A. Salvatore introduced the world to Drizzt D'Urden in a series that has since become a fantasy classic and a consistent presence on best seller lists. Now, for the first time, Salvatore partners with his son Geno to craft a brand-new story just for young readers, featuring a cameo of the most beloved fantasy character of all time.

For young readers seeking the next great fantasy saga or for long-time fans who can't miss any installment in the Drizzt saga, this book delivers all the action, intrigue, and magic you've come to expect from the Salvatore name.

4 out of 5 stars Hmmm   January 6, 2009
I recieved this book for christmas and got into to it fairly quickly.
As other readers point out the book is in first person which does turn several people off I however didn't really mind this as I read fairly fast and didn't really care about it. One thing I truly disliked about this book is that there was barely any plot exposition and I enjoy knowing what's going on. all in all however this is a fairly good book and great as a quick cheap read.

Not a bad read. It is written at a more junior high school level. Basic story but interesting. Don't buy it full price.
I wish my dad was a famous author so that he could help me write and publish a book for me.
I will give Gene Salvatore a chance but I would like to see if he could break away from the Drizzit story and do his own thing.

2 out of 5 stars Not a very good effort   December 1, 2008

Okay, I gave in an got this book because the reviews were good. My mistake. The entire book is written in the first person, which makes it a very annoying read. There are paragraphs that use the word "I" over a dozen times. Once you get past that, there is a weakly strung together plot that suffers from a boring protagonist and his travels to discover his destiny. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is it does have some familiar characters in it to distract from the flimsy story.

5 out of 5 stars Very good   November 26, 2008
This is a very well written by RA Salvatore and co written by his son. The book has a great plot. Great for fans of the RA books and even better for beginners. GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars As only [a] Salvatore can deliver   November 1, 2008
I was very curious on this book being that R.A. Salvatore's son wrote it along with R.A. Salvatore.
You can easily discern what each of them wrote as they have different writing styles. Nonetheless, they are both exquisite writing styles. It surprised me as young Salvatore has the same writing gift as Salvatore Sr.
A must read for Realms Fans!
