"Ten Things" Proves Good "Things" Come in Small Packages January 7, 2009 "Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wishes You Knew" is just the kind of information I was seeking so that I could understand my grandson who has to face the challenge of autism. The author, Ellen Notbohm, writes from first hand knowledge, as her son has this disorder. The questions I had about autism and more importantly, how I can help my grandson were answered with this book. Kudos to Ms. Notbohm for her very helpful book.
From the first word, I was hooked! January 4, 2009 I loved the humor in this book, and the compassion. I bought the parentsdigest summary first and couldn't wait to get the book! I've never read a better book on the subject of Autism and other spectrum disorders. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a child, or even friend or loved one who has a child, with Autism, Aspergers, or PDD-NOS!
Awesome book!!!!!!!! December 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I LOVED this book and I dont even like to read! I couldnt put it down. I loved that it was written so that it comes from the child. What MY son might want ME to know. She did use some words that are hard to understand, but I thought it was a great book for anyone who wants to know what your kid might want to say. I just cant say enough about it... love, love, love it!!!
Excellent Book November 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is excellent. There were many things I read in the book that were sort of "ah hah" moments for me. This book hit very close to home on many aspects. Thanks for such a great book!
Greatest book on autism ever!!! November 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is, hands down, the greatest book on autism ever. before the end of chapter one, I had a deep and profound understanding of why my nephew does some of the things he does. It's so uplifting and enlightening to hear it as if from the mouth of a child who suffers through this.
I particularly enjoy the way the author expresses the hardships of the condition in a positive manner and allows me to see more than the limitations it imposes. I believe that I, and my family, will benefit greatly from this book and it will definitely be a stocking stuffer for everyone in the immediate family. I wish it was required reading, not just for those dealing with children who have autism. I believe it could help everyone to learn a little empathy and truly see the world through someone else' eyes.
