Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Cats slink across the pages; the seasons are marked by cherry blossom and Japanese maple; spaghetti strands or telephone cords separate the days; and a generous selection of quotations, extracts, and facts from Murakami's novels and stories appear on almost every page to inspire, amuse, or entertain. This is a diary like no other, faithful to all that is witty, surreal, sexy, and beautiful in Murakami's work. A must-have for fans of Murakami and fans of unique design, this diary is the perfect quirky companion for 2009.

1 out of 5 stars Deceptive!   December 15, 2008

I pre-ordered this thinking it was some sort of diary written by Murakami but when it arrived I found it was just a silly Murakami-themed diary. I am a big fan of Murakami, and it is a bit sad to see this type of misleading marketing associated to his work.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful   December 3, 2008

I received this diary today and fell in love with it. It is beautifully designed using Murakami's words and many images inspired by his work. This is a must have for any Murakami fan and a beautiful piece of introduction for all who are not familiar with his work.

5 out of 5 stars A great way to greet the new year   November 28, 2008

I would have thought 2009 Diary would have served as a clue that this is a day book, but in it one finds many passages and a wonderful array of images that will endear this book to any Murakami fan and even those who never heard of him before. The most beautiful part about this journal is that it will fit into most any coat pocket and even the smallest of hand bags so that you can take it with you to remind yourself of important dates or simply leaf through the lovely pages while sipping a cup of latte or espresso at a coffee shop.

4 out of 5 stars Murakami cool, in diary form!   October 28, 2008

This is a sweet little diary full of quotes, book covers and associated Murakami paraphernalia; liberally sprinkled with book histories, publishing dates and Japanese holidays.

It's very beautiful, and even comes in a dust jacket, and despite all there is to be enjoyed it still feels quite minimalist; the black and white and red styling complimenting the character of Murakami's novels perfectly.

From a bibliophile's point of view, it is certainly a valued item to keep alongside Murakami's wonderful novels. The only problem i can see is exactly why you would want to write in it at all!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful   September 26, 2008

This is a beautiful book. Yes, it is a diary. Included are short sections from his books, important Murakami dates are noted, nice images of Japan and cats and other Murakami stuff. This is a beautiful book in and of itself. I will buy additional copies as gifts.
