Product Description Mona Lisa has finally accepted what she really is-a Mixed-Blood of the Monre, the children of the moon. Stronger, faster, and more beautiful than any human, they are the origins of Earth's darkest legends-and Mona Lisa is their newest Queen.
Accompanied by her loyal cadre of warriors and kin, Mona Lisa is entering her territory of Louisiana for the first time. She slowly learns the erotic and savage customs of the Monre elite-though some of her new subjects are uneasy at being ruled by a half-human. Her reign is threatened by enemies old and new, and she is ensnared in the thrall of dark forces she cannot deny. In a hidden world of animal passions and unrelenting lust, Mona Lisa soon grasps the tremendous power she must command if she is to hold her realm together-and if she is ever to come into her own.

Passionate action packed book January 8, 2009 Good action packed simple read with an erotic story line. I would highly recommend reading Mona Lisa Awakening before attempting to read this.
Not as good as the first one, but a solid read December 18, 2008 It was not as good as the first book in this series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It reminds me a lot of Laurell K. Hamilton's Meridith Gentry novels (which I have always loved, but recently have become disenchanted with) but even better!!
Exactly what I thought it would be, gosh I love Halcyon November 10, 2008 This is the second book in the Monere: Children of Moon series by Sunny. I didn't think the first book was all that great, it seemed to be echoing the Meredith Gentry series too much. But I borrowed this book from a friend so I thought why not give it a read. Luckily I actually liked it.
Mona Lisa is going to lay claim and move into her new territory. She has to deal with her enemy from the first book, who is now her neighbor and the existing Monere in her territory. If the premise sounds straight forward it is. This is a very quick, easy, yet fun read.
The characters are what make this book. More specifically Halcyon; without him this book would not be nearly was good. The Lord of Hell was also an interesting character. There is a lot of sex. The only thing I can say about that is that I think that the sex is more creative and more psychologically motivated than the sex in the Meredith Gentry series. Although I did get a bit sick of the different synonyms used to describe male parts.
So I guess if you know what you are getting into, liked the first book, and want more of that this is the book for you. It's a quick, fun read. There's lots of time spent on character development and sex. So if you aren't interested in that then don't read it. This is more of a romance than a fantasy or typical paranormal book. karissabooks.blogspot.com
Good book August 3, 2008 Good follow up to her first book in the Monere series. After reading an anthology with the sequel to this I was pleased to get the background on the characters.
Fantastic July 4, 2008 Things haven't been easy for Mona Lisa. Her Mixed Blood has automatically earned her many enemies, as have the events that occurred in the first book of the series, MONA LISA AWAKENING.
Mona Lisa is entering her newly acquired territory for the first time. With her group of supporters, her Warrior Lords, and her brother in tow, Mona Lisa arrives in Louisiana. She will have to embrace her powers if she is to succeed as both old and new enemies are lurking, waiting to pounce on her slightest misstep in judgment.
The character and heart of Mona Lisa drive this series. Mona Lisa's compassion and strength are paramount to the reader caring about her, as the world of the Monere is a brutal one. Some of the customs and beliefs of the Monere are not for the faint hearted; Mona Lisa's ability to rise past these customs and show her own humanity adds a layer of depth and intensity to the series.
MONA LISA BLOSSOMING picks up after the events of MONA LISA AWAKENING. It can be read as a stand alone but there are nuances that a reader new to the series will miss, particularly in regards to the relationships. Mona Lisa's bond with her Warrior Lords and with Rosemary, Jamie, and Tersa may not be as well understood without the background and emotion that are so well conveyed in MONA LISA AWAKENING.
MONA LISA BLOSSOMING shows Mona Lisa truly coming into her role as a Mixed Blood Queen. Mona Lisa's position is a precarious one at times but she balances things well. Mona Lisa is learning how to make the tough choices, the ones that will test her determination and grit. I can't help but admire her willingness to accept the challenges thrown at her.
MONA LISA BLOSSOMING is yet another fantastic offering from Sunny. Sunny's stark but beautiful writing continues to impress as she weaves her compelling tale. MONA LISA BLOSSOMING is highly recommended for dark fantasy fans who like their books a bit on the edgier side!
