 fabulous fantasy series December 17, 2008
With a nod to Alice in Wonderland, Collins imagines a New York City in which two children fall down a grate in their apartment building's laundry room into an incredible world under the city, inhabited by gigantic roaches, rats, spiders, bats, and, humans known as Underlanders. Eleven year old Gregor and his two-year old sister, Boots, become entangled in a quest to save this dangerous but intriguing world from disaster. This is a fabulous fantasy series for kids who have finished Harry Potter and are wondering what to read next. Collins makes this incredible world inhabited by gigantic creatures entirely believable. Who would have thought that an author could make giant cockroaches so loveable and appealing?

Gregor the Overlander is the must-read book of the year! This book kept me up for hours at night trying to find out what happens next. The story starts out with 11 year old Gregor and his 2 year old sister Boots falling into the amazing Underland. There they meet people and creatures of all kinds, including rats, bats, and giant cockroaches! Gregor also finds out that his father who had been missing for 2 years might have fallen to the Underland and been kidnapped by the rats. In the fight to find his father and get back up to the Overland, Gregor finds friends and he finds bravery within himself. If you like fantasies than this is the have-to-read-book for you.

Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins was a great book because it had adventure, fun, and adventure running across every page .When Gregor and boots fall down towards the Underland and brought to the kingdom by rats I thought they must have had quite an adventure. Gregor then met the queen of the Underland and discovers that her parents were killed by rats. The queen then takes Gregor to a bat race where he encounters all sorts of fun and excitement. They return to the castle were Gregor discovers the prophecy and tries to escape. While Boots and Gregor try to escape boots befriends two roaches. Gregor and boots are caught and then return to the castle. They, then get ready to fight a war. Gregor finally is reunited with his father, who was taken hostage by rats and they return to the Overland. This book has a lot of fun, adventure, and excitement and you won't be sorry if you read it.

Gregor The Overlander is an amazing book! You will be caught in it's amazing story line until you finish it! It is about a young boy named Gregor and his baby sister Boots, they accidently stumble into an underground world known as Underland and find out their dad (who was lost long ago) has been trapped in this world all along. They run into all kinds of creatures like giant rats, cockroaches, spiders, and bats. If you want to hear the rest of the story then this is the book for you. If you buy it and read it you will think the same thing as me "Gregor The Overlander is an amazing book!"

This book was really good! I read to my kids almost every night, and usually end up reading something that doesn't hold my attention. Gregor kept it and made me want to read longer!!! My kids enjoyed them and so did I.
